Skiing and the Mountains
- The lift system in the 3 valleys is second to none. A new 'hands free' lift pass system has been added really cutting queues. With so many lifts and runs in and out of Courchevel you can always avoid the busy Croisette in the morning.
- The area is well know for its perfectly groomed pistes, you can even pick up a 'daily' piste map from the Croisette to find out which runs have been prepared the night before. It is such a cruisers paradise, and low intermediates will quickly improve on the terrain.
- For the daredevils the Grand Couloir from the top of the Saulire is the steepest in Europe at 40 degrees. The nerve wracking narrow ridge - the only way in - is just the start. Try skiing it earlier in the week as most people save it for their final day and it can get crowded.
- Courchevel is part of the 3 valleys ski area, which is the largest in the world. It's larger than the six biggest American resorts put together!
- The pistes are primarily north facing so the huge amount of snow that falls lasts a lot longer than in other resorts. It has had fantastic late season snow over the last couple of winters so it's great for Easter skiing and sping snow.
- Although not that well known the off piste in the 3 valleys is world class.
Resorts and apres ski
- The tourist office states that 25-30% of the guests in Courchevel 1850 have no intention of skiing. The resort has responded well by offering such a diverse range of non-skiing activities that you'll never get bored. In the evening the choice of apres ski is extremely varied. You can relax in a quiet locals bar or spend the night dancing in one of the nightclubs.
- Try something new in Courchevel 1850 - ever wondered what it's like to drive a piste basher? You can give it a go iunder the guidance of an instructor.
- It's very rare that you get an opportunity to enjoy a 2 star Michelin meal on the chalet staff's day off. Dining in the fabulous restaurant in the Chabichou hotel is an experience not to be missed. You can even take a cooking lesson each Thursday between 9am and 11am.
- The Forum in Courchevel 1850 has everything you need to keep the family entertained. An ice rink, bowling alley, indoor climbing wall as well as lots of great shopping occupy the 3 floors and ensure you'll never get bored even on bad weather days.
- Every day after the pistes close and before you head for the warmth of our Courchevel chalets take a 25 km snowmobile tour around the pistes and forests. After a quick lesson you'll find youself speeding up slopes instead of down them.
