Skiing and the Mountains
- Famed for its off piste and great dumps of powder snow Verbier has terrain suitable for most skiers. Advanced skiers should head to the top of the Mont Fort cable car for a spectacular descent through a deserted valley down to Siviez. With steeps and crevasses it will challenge the most experienced skier.
- The nursery slopes are situated close to the middle of the village which is nice and convenient. After you find your feet head to the easy blues at La Chaux.
- Intermediate skiers have a lot to go at. As well as La Chaux try the Savoleyres area, it has good intermediate pistes and usually has better snow and less people than most of the area.
- For people that really don’t like aggressive skiers racing past them Verbier has introduced ‘slow skiing zones’ on piste at La Chaux and Savoleyres.
- Unlike a lot of Europe they do allow Heliskiing. Take a helicopter up to the breathtaking virgin powder slopes away from the crowds – our favourite is Rosablanche.
- If you love watching ski movies why not see the Freeride experts as they ski and board over cliffs, cornice’s and couloirs live. The O’Neill Xtreme event kicks off in March and it’s a chance to see the worlds best skiers on the toughest terrain around.
Resorts and apres ski
- If you haven’t had enough of racing down the slopes Verbier has 2 toboggan runs on the shady side of Savoleyres and from Les Ruinetts. Both 6 miles of pure fun!
- When it comes to après ski Verbier is hard to beat. It has a justifiably great reputation for a large range of bars and restaurants from the quiet candlelit Kings cellar bar to the lively Pub Mont Fort for the hard core party people.
- You can’t go to Switzerland without trying a local Fondue! Head to Au Mignon which is the best we’ve tried in the Alps!
- For those who like to keep active off the piste there is a fantastic leisure facility in Verbier. Everything is on hand from swimming, ice-skating, climbing wall to spa facilities
- For something completely different head to the Medran Park where a suspended foot path 800m long passes from tree to tree on Nepalese bridges. The forest is absolutely stunning and it’s certainly a different view from up there.
- After all of the high adrenaline activities Verbier has to offer why not chill out and relax for a while in the luxurious spa complex at Lavey-les-Bains, just down the road. With every type of treatment available and saunas and thermally heated pools, you will return to the slopes rejuvenated and ready for anything .
